A.J. Brown Launches into Cannabis Industry with Latest Project
C3 Industries
C3 Industries, a cannabis company headquartered in Ann Arbor, Michigan, has recently expanded its multistate manufacturing footprint into Missouri with A.J. Brown as their construction partner. This vertically integrated cannabis company is championed for its award-winning cannabis cultivation and production, noteworthy brand partnerships and 14 retail stores.
The new Sunset Hills facility opened in December 2021, meeting a strict state-mandated deadline. C3 Industries partnered with A.J. Brown to deliver the state-of-the-art production site in record time.
This project involved the total site and building renovation. The existing building was previously an automobile service center originally built in the 1950s.
A.J. Brown’s team completed an interior demolition which included removing concrete floors; new sanitary, electrical and storm utilities were brought in. The interior buildout included new office space, reception area, employee break room, product safe room, retail area and restrooms. The new concrete floor was finished with polish and seal, and the exposed ceiling was painted. Expansive retail casework and counters were also installed. The exterior sitework package included a new parking lot and landscaping.
This design/build project was unique in many ways, and an exciting step into the cannabis industry for A.J. Brown. “This was a first for us, speaking in terms of industry, but it’s a project that fell right within our wheelhouse,” says Doug Rendleman, A.J. Brown principal. “Even with several unforeseen soil condition challenges, we delivered a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility by the state-mandated deadline, without sacrificing the quality of the final product. I foresee this being the first of many design/build projects for A.J. Brown within the fast-growing cannabis industry.”
