A.J. Brown is Building The Future of Entertainment
In Chesterfield, Missouri, a groundbreaking project is underway that promises to redefine the landscape of entertainment production in the United States. Gateway Studios & Production Services (GSPS), a state-of-the-art rehearsal and production studio complex, is being constructed with A.J. Brown, Inc. at the helm as the general contractor. This ambitious endeavor, located at 900 Spirit of St. Louis Boulevard, is set to become the largest facility of its kind in the nation.
A Visionary Project
GSPS was established to provide comprehensive production solutions for the live music touring, motion picture, television, and corporate event industries. The new complex spans approximately 300,000 square feet and is designed to meet the diverse needs of these sectors. The facility will feature multiple studios, dressing rooms, support spaces, a commercial kitchen, production areas, offices, breakrooms, lounge areas, and numerous restrooms and shower rooms. This extensive array of amenities ensures that clients have access to all necessary resources under one roof.
A.J. Brown Steps In
Initially, a different general contractor was assigned to the project. However, due to unforeseen challenges, GSPS decided to bring in A.J. Brown, Inc., a Chesterfield-based general contracting firm renowned for its expertise in managing complex construction projects. Founded in 1991, A.J. Brown specializes in design/build services, traditional design/bid/build, and interior build-outs and renovations across various sectors, including office, retail, commercial, entertainment, and industrial spaces. Their reputation for successfully completing projects that have faced setbacks made them the ideal choice for GSPS.
Upon taking over the project, A.J. Brown faced the formidable task of assessing the current state of affairs. This involved meeting with all subcontractors and suppliers to evaluate existing contracts, change orders, schedules, and any delays or damages incurred. Collaborating closely with local authorities, they ensured that all drawings and permits were on the right track. Additionally, they addressed gaps where suppliers or subcontractors had not yet been contracted. Through diligent coordination and communication, A.J. Brown was able to establish a realistic and achievable project schedule, setting the stage for successful completion.
Phased Completion
The project is being executed in phases to expedite its availability to clients. The first phase, scheduled for completion by the end of March 2025, will unveil two of the largest studios, allowing them to commence operations promptly. The remainder of the facility is slated for completion later in the year, ensuring that the full spectrum of services will be available to meet the high demand anticipated from various entertainment sectors.

Reflecting on the journey, a representative from A.J. However, once I met with GSPS Leadership, I knew we would be a great addition to their team. So far, it has been great.
