A.J. Brown Awarded $85-Million Project

A.J. Brown is excited to have the opportunity to assist in the design and construction of a new, upscale casino and retail/entertainment plaza on the property of the Horseshoe Southern Indiana. The 100,000-square-foot facility located in Elizabeth, Indiana, just outside Louisville, Kentucky, will relocate Horseshoe’s current expansive casino while adding a variety of restaurants, retail outlets, and a brand-new entertainment venue. The new casino will include modern structural amenities such as upgraded ventilation systems, natural lighting, outdoor balconies, and renovations to existing spaces.

Constructive Collaboration

Over the course of the next two years, A.J. Brown will partner with Caesar’s Entertainment and Harmon Construction in the schematic design, design development, planning, and construction of this new deluxe casino/hotel experience. The project’s schedule is being developed in anticipation of potential weather-related obstacles, as the project’s property is located within a sizable floodplain.

Embracing Challenges

Despite the floodplain hurdle, A.J. Brown’s years of experience in casino design-build and construction have primed us for developing innovative contracting and construction solutions to complete projects like this on time and on budget. The 18 month,
$85 million Horseshoe Southern Indiana project is the largest single contract in
A.J. Brown’s 30-plus-year history and we couldn’t be more excited to begin the development process.

The Horseshoe Southern Indiana is part of a long line of similar, expansive commercial construction projects that A.J. Brown has proudly overseen or collaborated on from conception to completion. Our organization is looking forward to building on an already impressive resume of casino-related construction projects, as we continue to grow as a business, a team of industry leaders, and as a family.

Building the New First Bank

A Fresh Start for First Bank

A.J. Brown recently completed the renovation of First Bank’s brand-new Kirkwood, Missouri branch. This beautiful new 2,400-square-foot space is comprised of a spacious retail area for banking, two offices, restrooms, a break room, and various administrative areas. We were proud to help add to this institution’s already impressive reputation within the St. Louis community by constructing their new location.

Beginning the Design-Build

As part of the First Bank project’s design-build team, our experts began the renovation process with evaluation of the existing building and creation of schematic plans, design development, and construction drawings, followed by eventual bidding of the project and the subsequent construction phase. This three-month process was completed ahead of schedule and within First Bank’s budget with the help of our friends at Paradigm Architects.

Overcoming Obstacles

Before renovation began, the original building was in considerably poor condition. Our team had to redesign the foundation supports for the Bank’s elevated floor, adding concrete foundations and installing steel supports within the cramped, harder-to-access spaces of the lower level. We worked with a structural engineer to design a system that would reasonably but sufficiently support the structure’s intended use and remedy any remaining structural abnormalities.

Producing Results That Speak for Themselves

By the end of the renovation process, A.J. Brown was proud to once again deliver on the promise of producing innovative solutions to perceived challenges while delivering a product of unrivaled quality and beauty. The new First Bank’s Kirkwood branch enjoys greater visibility within its community, and thus, increased business. Our team was excited to build on A.J. Brown’s history of premier construction/contracting services for financial institutions and we can’t wait to watch the new branch continue to flourish.
