President & CEO

Doug, who has been active in the construction services industry for three decades, is President & CEO of A.J. Brown, Inc. He joined the staff in 2000, was elevated to a partner in 2006, and served as co-President for many years before being elevated to sole President & CEO in 2024.

Doug is responsible for business development & retention, contract negotiation, pre-construction budget analysis, construction estimating and operations management. He primarily works with clients in the industrial, commercial, healthcare and tenant improvement fields.

As President & CEO of A.J. Brown, Doug oversees a core team of 14 employees, plus a large number of subcontractors and suppliers. He maintains regular external communications with business owners and senior leadership for each company.

A.J. Brown was founded in 1991 as a general contracting company. Thanks to leadership from Doug and his business partners, A.J. Brown has grown significantly over time and now specializes in construction projects from inception to completion. Using a design-build approach, the company is currently capable of managing more than 100 projects each year.

In the beginning, A.J. Brown exclusively served clients in the St. Louis metropolitan area and its larger projects were in the neighborhood of $1 million. With a client base that has easily grown tenfold, A.J. Brown now works on projects up to $80 million throughout the United States.
