Central Bank Modernizes Headquarters

Set-Up

We recently completed an expansive new project for Central Bank of St. Louis, a regional chain with 14 locations serving the metropolitan area. Our first project with the bank is a 28,630 square foot renovation of their headquarters in Clayton, Missouri. A.J. Brown served as the general contractor for this project, managing 32 subcontractors and suppliers over the course of 11 months.

The Challenge

The construction process consisted of managing a full-scale renovation while much of the bank remained open. As the headquarters for the Central Bank chain, the Clayton branch’s vault and lock box had to remain intact and fully operational, or risk disruptions throughout the entire Central Bank system. With the cooperation of bank management and a group of talented sub-contractors and designers, we experienced a smooth team effort avoiding any complications.

The Process

Due to the bank’s teller line, vault and lock boxes all remaining in-use throughout renovation, the entire project had to be multi-phased. Much of the renovation process consisted of working hand-in-hand with our team to identify when certain areas of the facility could be worked on without disrupting the bank’s daily operations.

The Central Bank Clayton headquarters had not completed a full scale renovation in over fifty years. Accordingly, the building was in need of many considerable replacements and repairs.

  • The building was stripped of any hazardous materials such as asbestos and mold in order to be brought up to environmental regulations.
  • The majority of the roof was replaced, along with complete interior demolition and renovation of new retail, teller, office space and conference rooms.
  • We oversaw the replacement of all HVAC and insulation systems, electric and plumbing with state-of-the-art materials.
  • We installed an elevator and replaced most of the stone flooring and wall products with materials imported from Italy.

The building’s beautifully remodeled interiors were designed by Christi Johaningmeyer’s talented team at Architextures LLC, who made themselves readily available throughout the renovation process.

The Outcome

After just under a year of construction, the results of the Central Bank renovation speak for themselves. Completed in early 2016, the newly remodeled headquarters has received glowing reviews from employees and customers alike. Bank management has raved about the modernized look and feel of the renovated space. A.J. Brown is proud of the work we put into this and all our other projects, and we thank the wonderful people at Central Bank for providing us with this opportunity.
